Russell 3000 Index (symbol .thy)
The Russell 3000 Index represents 3000 US companies. These companies represent roughly 98% of the investable US equity market. This index is put out by the Northwestern Mutual Life company. There are many other indexes put out by Russell. The 3000 and 2000 are the most popular. The Russell 2000 is a list of the two thousand smallest capitalized companies. The index is not readily invested into.
