Investment News

Good news on a company will make the stock go up. Bad news about a company makes the stock go down. Some of the larger companies have lots of news stories about them. You can feel like you are on a roller coaster as the news stories come in. If you could only get the news before everyone else, then you could make some really profitable trades. That is basically insider trading and you aren't which large news outlet is privy to you?

Warren Buffet says to ignore the news. Why? It is an important principle to stick to your own investment principles and your own objective data. People that follow the news and other analysts are subject to the whims of others. News can cloud your judgment, but mostly it is just rhetoric. Most of the news is just background noise that doesn't really contribute to making a good decision. People constantly look to news to get an idea of what to invest in. Trading on news stories is the same as speculation and you can expect to lose money doing it.

Many great investors say to just turn the news off. It isn't just Warren Buffet. I haven't heard any great investor ever say that a key to their success was watching a lot of financial news shows.
